I tip my hat off to you...

Today I sit here in wonder and see my son in every homeless person I see. I see their slow tired demeanor from walking the streets. They seldom find a place within society to rest, without one or other calling or referring to them as “bums.” I have heard on countless occasions people say “you know they need to clear that area of the bums” or “good thing they got rid of the bums in that corner.”

Well these bums are the children of many of us out here and the children we sent to Vietnam, Dessert Storm, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc, etc., etc. These “bums” are people that decided our society has neglected them but they have something not one person can take away from them, not even the feds (he he) freedom! Freedom of all the complications of life. Freedom from taxes. Freedom of not having to worry they are coming to repossess your car, your furniture, your home. Freedom of not having to take the medications that society has decided is necessary in order for the mentally ill to be accepted by society’s terms.

The mentally ill take meds, not for themselves, but so that those around them can be able to deal with the hallucinations, or compulsive behaviors, or inner turmoil, and/or aggression. The poison ameliorates the symptoms and keeps the pharmaceuticals going and of course the congressmen that back them up richer. But that is another can of worms.

Then we have the homeless families that with this economy have just not been able to make ends meet, lost their jobs, etc. etc. Yes all these people are our children out there. Why do we then treat them with such lack of respect? They are to be respected for having the “balls” to do it “their way” without the poison that others decide for them and in the midst of Today I sit here in wonder and see my son in every homeless person I see. I see their slow tired demeanor from walking the streets. They seldom find a place within society to rest, without one or other calling or referring to them as “bums.” I have heard on countless occasions people say “you know they need to clear that area of the bums” or “good thing they got rid of the bums in that corner.”

Today I tip my hat to all you homeless folks out there because regardless of what your circumstances are you are making it! And if this is the life you desire, then another tip of my hat, because its hard, but if it is rewarding enough to live it then be it. If this is not the life you want for yourself then take small steps to achieve your goals. There is always a kind person or nonjudgmental person that will give small jobs to us folks that cannot focus long enough on a job that takes a lot of effort. But yes we can do small jobs here and there and make some money and feel good about ourselves. And for all those families that are homeless, stick together and you will accomplish all your goals.
